Old age is not as dreadful, terrible, miserable and frightening as depicted in some write up and videos. You can minimize or reduce the troubles associated with old age by observing the following rules. Please take time out to read this article. Do not say I have heard much of this kind of lecture. This article contains much update that you should not miss.
Here are the tips:
Drink two or more glasses of water first thing every morning before brushing your teeth. This will regulate your bowel movement and enable you to defecate almost immediately. Take one more glass of water after defecation. That will eliminate the remaining debris in your bowel. If you continue this practice regularly and religiously you will never ever feel headache. Dirty stomach is the reservoir of diseases. It serves as a breeding ground for germs and harmful bacteria. Drink more water throughout the day whether you are thirsty or not. Maintaining and sustaining this practice will enable you avoid many diseases that take joy out of life.
Engage in a form of exercise that can make you sweat every morning. It should last about 15 minutes. After the exercise, breathe in and out 7 times. After that, go and brush your teeth, take your bathe, and go to your place of work.
Some people use to say: “I don’t need to engage in an early morning exercise because, I do hard work at my place of work every day”. Some others say, I sweep or wash my car every morning before I leave the home. That in itself to some extent, is good; but remember that the early morning exercise you engage in, in the morning serves to circulate blood and oxygen throughout all part of the body to enable it perform efficiently and maximally throughout the day; just the same reason you warm your car first before deploying it to a journey.
The reason for the warming, is to enable oil circulate well into all parts of the engine. Do not sit in one position for more than two hours without getting out and moving around. Continue that practice until you close for the day
Beware of what goes into your mouth or what you eat. “You are what you eat”. Study how your body reacts to the foods you eat. If you notice any negative reaction, eliminate that food from your menu. No doctor can do it for you. Nobody else can react to what you eat for you. Nobody can drink panadol to cure another person’s headache.
Do not read or watch TV program beyond 10pm. At 10pm, go and have your sleep. Do not sleep with your phone on the bed. Keep it away from you. Some even put their phone under pillow.
If you live in Africa continent, treat your malarial every two months whether you have any symptom or not. Do not use injection. Go for anti-malaria tablets. Malaria is the magnet that attracts many diseases such as rheumatism, arthritis, toothache and high blood pressure. Avoid swallowing pain killer tablet indiscriminately like rice and beans. They can destroy the vital organs of your body and prepare you for a miserable old age as depicted in some write up and videos. Do not inject any substance into your body in whatever form they are presented except in an unavoidable circumstance.
Maintain your mental abilities by reading and learning new things. One is never too old to read and learn. Read both circular and religious books to balance your knowledge. If you restrict yourself only to religious knowledge, it can lead you to fanaticism; resulting in a great deal of ignorance, confusion, frustration and regret. That in its self is mental deformity.
Live a simple life style devoid of pride and arrogance. Imbibe the culture of humility and moderation in everything such as: alcoholic beverages, entertainment and sex.
Eat more fruits, nuts and vegetables than cooked food. Eat your food fresh as it is cooked. Any food kept in a fridge more than 3 days has lost its nutritional value. Eat and drink with moderation. To the extent possible with you, avoid or minimize eating sugary foods. Sugar is the food of cancer; so when you starve it of sugar, it dies a natural death and disappears. Avoid caffeinated foods, beverages and drugs. Caffeine can make life miserable and take joy out of life.
Be religious but do not become a religionist with its death dealing effects of ignorance and fanaticism. Serve your God with “MODESTY” (Micah 6:8). Observe and keep his rules and regulations (Isa 48:17,18 ) Walk into your old age majestically with strength and vitality.
Learn to be tolerant and forgiving. It is the tonic for Good health and longevity. I am 72 years old as at the time of writing this article; and have never experienced headache, rheumatism and arthritis for the past 45yrs. Discipline is my watch word but not to a foolish degree because, I am wonderfully flexible. Remember, “rigidity is a disease, its symptoms are confusion, frustration, regret and sorrow; the only available and effective treatment is flexibility”. Please, learn to be flexible whenever necessary.
Learn to socialize, with discipline as your watch word. Remember, “discipline is the magnet that attracts good health”. Live for the present, and avoid entertaining fear of the future. Leave the future in God’s hand provided you live a life that reflects his qualities in your life. Live your life now in a way that your tombstone reads: “No Regret”.
Avoid greedy life style. Greed only attracts miserable diseases that take joy out of life. It leads to health complications and agonizing death. Live to add value to others’ life and put smile on their faces.
Old age is a thing of joy if founded on discipline. According to John Mason, “there are two major pains in life; the temporary pain of discipline and the permanent pain of regret”. If you imbibe the culture of discipline, and observe these tips, you will certainly walk into your old age majestically with strength and vitality. Nevertheless, walking into your old age majestically with strength and vitality is a choice.
